In 2007, Sabine Mersch, lawyer, establishes a first legal consulting firm. Over a period of 10 years, she worked in the data protection field within the context of digitisation for several European multinationals.
In 2010, Sabine Mersch obtains the EuroPriSe – European Privacy Seal certification.
She is also awarded the title of Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
In 2016, the GDPR comes into effect across the entire European territory.
In 2017, Sabine Mersch establishes THE PRIVACY OFFICE since she was well-aware of the data protection issues and thus became an expert in the field. This company is the result of a partnership between her consulting firm and an IT company. THE PRIVACY OFFICE aims at supporting companies and institutions in their efforts to integrate GDPR standards and regulations.
Sabine Mersch takes the Belgian company over on her own and a second entity in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg bearing the same name. THE PRIVACY OFFICE Belgium starts its operations with 5 people on board. THE PRIVACY OFFICE Luxembourg counts three people.
From 2017 to 2019, the main activity of both organisations is to provide legal and IT consulting services in the GDPR field. They are active on the European market, particularly in Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Spain and Italy.
In 2019, THE PRIVACY OFFICE develops an initial pilot version of the TPOmap software. THE PRIVACY OFFICE finances the software development with its own funds.
THE PRIVACY OFFICE extends the sale of this software to other clients and markets TPOmap.
In 2021, the Luxembourg structure is involved in a start-up support programme. After being selected, it benefits from specific support measures.
In 2022, the team expands with the arrival of an administrative and financial manager. The company integrates its first Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
In 2023, THE PRIVACY OFFICE establishes a strategic committee consisting of internal and external experts.
In 2024, THE PRIVACY OFFICE becomes TPO SOLUTIONS with a complete multidisciplinary team in Belgium and Luxembourg.
A new TPOmap version is expected to be released for 2025 with even more functionalities and the more powerful data exploitation opportunities.
